Mobile Number Portability in the Philippines is a legal right under Republic Act 11202. It lets any mobile user move from one network to another without giving up their existing number. Whether you are on Smart, DITO, TNT, or Sun Cellular, you can switch to TM and your number stays exactly the same — no need to tell everyone a new number or update your accounts.

TM Mobile Number Portability works through a free, fully online process managed by Globe Telecom, since TM operates under Globe. You apply, get a new TM MNP SIM delivered to your address, activate it using a porting code, and your signal switches to TM within four hours.

What Is Mobile Number Portability?

MNP lets a subscriber switch to a different network or subscription type without changing their phone number. It became legally possible under Republic Act 11202 (the Mobile Number Portability Act); all three major telecoms went live with external porting on September 30, 2021.

  • Internal porting stays within the same network family — e.g. Globe Prepaid to TM, or TM to Globe Postpaid. Handled through the GlobeOne app.
  • External porting moves your number from a completely different network (Smart, TNT, Sun, DITO) to TM. This is what most people mean by "switching to TM."

Porting moves your existing number onto a new TM SIM — same number, new network.

What You Need Before You Start

  • Unique Subscriber Code (USC): a 9-digit code from your current network confirming you are eligible. Text USC to 5050 from the number you want to port.
  • Valid government-issued ID: PhilSys National ID, Passport, Driver's License, SSS/GSIS ID, PRC ID, Postal ID, or Voter's ID.
  • Your delivery address: complete and correct, in a serviceable area — the free TM MNP SIM ships to you.

How to Apply for TM Mobile Number Portability

  1. 1Go to the Globe Port Number page
  2. 2Enter your current non-Globe/non-TM mobile number
  3. 3Fill out the customer information form — full name, valid ID details, email, and delivery address
  4. 4Enter your valid 9-digit USC (from texting USC to 5050)
  5. 5Review everything and confirm your free SIM order
  6. 6Submit — you receive a confirmation within 48 hours if approved
  7. 7Once approved, Globe sends your SIM delivery details and 6-digit Prepaid Porting Code via text and email. Save this code.
Delivery: Metro Manila (NCR) 2–3 business days; outside NCR 5–7 business days. Track your delivery on Globe's Track My Order page using your reference number (format GLE-XXXXX) and the email you applied with.

How to Activate Your TM MNP SIM

  1. 1Insert the TM MNP SIM into your phone
  2. 2Open your SIM menu and select Port In, then Online Request
  3. 3Enter your non-Globe/non-TM mobile number (the one you are porting)
  4. 4Enter the 6-digit Prepaid Porting Code you received
  5. 5Restart your phone

Within four hours, your signal changes to TM. After activation, download GlobeOne to check balance, subscribe to promos, and manage your account. If mobile data does not connect automatically, set your TM APN settings.

What Happens to Your Old Services

What you lose: any remaining load or promos on your old network, old subscription services tied to your SIM, and SIM-stored contacts (saved on the physical SIM). What you keep: your mobile number exactly as it is, your GCash account (number-based, not SIM-based), and contacts saved to your phone or cloud.

Before you activate the TM SIM, export or screenshot your SIM-stored contacts so you do not lose them.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

  • Not approved within 48 hours — usually an outstanding postpaid balance, an incorrect/expired USC, or a contract/bundle. Confirm your number's status with your current provider before reapplying.
  • Porting code not received — check spam/junk; the code comes via SMS and email. After 24 hours, call TM at 211 or use GlobeOne.
  • SIM delivery delayed or address not serviceable — the courier contacts you; you may need to update the address or pick up at a Globe Store.
  • Signal does not switch after activation — restart and wait the full four hours; if it still does not change, contact TM support.
  • Phone not reading the new SIM — make sure your device is unlocked and compatible with the TM network.
